Is judo the sport for you or your child?
If you’re not sure, then why not give us a try or even watch us to get an idea…
You will find us a helpful, friendly and encouraging club so don’t be afraid to ask questions.
Your first session is TOTALLY FREE! Then if you want to continue training simply pays the current session cost of £3.60 per lesson at the leisure centre front desk when you arrive to train.
Clothing…
You will need to wear practice clothing which is loose fitting although a spare club judo GI may be available for you to borrow. Jewellery, earrings and sharp metal objects including hair grips must be removed to avoid injury to yourself or others. Judo is practiced bare footed although for the sake of hygiene members and visitors are encouraged to put their footwear on the moment they leave the mat.
Drinks…
As you will soon discover judo will make you sweat and it is ESSENTIAL that you bring a supple of water or energy cordial with you so you can stay fully hydrated and get the VERY MOST out of the session.
Ongoing requirements…
If after 4 weeks you decide that judo is the sport for you or your child, then you will be required to apply for a BJA (British Judo Association) license which are quite inexpensive and will provide you with insurance in case of injury. Belonging to the BJA will also allow you to grade as you become ready and begin climbing the judo ranks as well as participating in regular BJA contests and competitions if you wish.
